Good Beginnings

Last night we started 2009 with a few of our favorite things: good friends, festive toasts, and delicious food.  For my part, I made a cheese ball for the first time.  I am not sure why I have never made one of these before, but I do know that I intend to whip up many more in 2009.  By the end of the night there was a pretty big dent in it--I think it was at least half a pound of cheese per person.  That was just the beginning of a fun night that included the delicious dinner John prepared and the Pecan and Chocolate Pie Amy shared with us.  Yum!

John made a Prime Filet, which was wonderful.  I usually don't believe in the hype over Prime--sorry Dad and John--but now I am a believer!  Check out the delicious dish, Beef Tenderloin with Mushroom Sauce and Gorgonzola Scalloped Potatoes.  My tastebuds were SO happy!

That was such a fantastic meal that I will always remember. I especially loved the sauces on both the filet and lobster. My compliments to the chef! Sorry I didn't make it to midnight!
